The Ngulu is a sickle-shaped ceremonial and execution sword from the Congo Basin, known for its massive, asymmetrical blade, often with intricate hand-engraved designs, and an ornate handle wrapped in wire or leather. The blade has a dramatic, asymmetrical, sickle-like or scythe-like form, with one edge being significantly more curved than the other. Sometimes described as a status symbol or currency, it was reputedly used in executions for beheading, with the unique blade design ensuring a powerful, sweeping cut to the neck.
